Discovering that we are not alone in our struggles is a welcome relief. Knowing we have company is heart-warming. Feeling a sense of confidence that someone else has been through this brings us hope, and courage.
So, when considering how to ‘tighten’ the Enterprising Tribe, the question that first came to my mind was; “what exactly is an enterprising couple – and not?
En·ter·pris·ing Defined :
In order to know if we fit, we need to know what enterprising is – and isn’t. Here’s some classic en·ter·pris·ing definitions:
-
Merriam-Webster : marked by an independent energetic spirit and by readiness to act
-
WordReference : marked by imagination, initiative, and readiness to undertake new projects
-
S.I. Hayakawa : suggesting improvisation toward a less clearly defined goal containing an element of risk accomplished through boldness and strenuous endeavor
En·ter·pris·ing Couple :
For our purposes, an ‘Enterprising Couple’ is :
-
two persevering individuals in a committed relationship sharing a passion to achieve, and,
while knowing the risks, are boldly moving toward a positive outcome.
Therefore, one or the other of you might be:
- an entrepreneur
- a volunteer
- a philanthropist
- an artist
- a writer
- an activist
- a marketing affiliate
- a social servant
– and the other might have a more secure income or a job. The vehicle is not important. The desire to go is the common denominator. The process of starting, staying strong and arriving together is what greatly matters, and what molds the journey.
In another posting I’ll share about a great TOOL. The Clifton Strengths Finder, and how it helped me understand the natural strengths of Angelina, myself, and both of my children. Working from an awareness of STRENGTHS, as opposed to, PROBLEMS, I’ve made great progress in making the journey much more pleasant for each of us.
Survey
That said; how would you know if your partnership would benefit by joining the Enterprising Couple tribe? Let’s take a survey and see how you fit.
